If you've changed to larger tires without changing the axle's gears, then this is the answer for restoring your Toyota's performance and to gain back the lost power. In addition, you'll get the crawl capability you seek on the trail.
This ring and pinion set from Trail Gear is a 4.88 ratio. It fits minitruck pickups and 4 Runners with 4 cylinder engines, with 8″ (7.8″) axles. It will fit the front or rear axle of straight axle trucks, and it will fit the rear ONLY of the IFS versions of these trucks. It will not work in IFS front ends. This ratio is recommended for tires up to 33″.
For a high performance and high reliability setup, install it with the differential setup kit and a solid spacer.
